St. Francis Regional Medical Center is one of the first hospitals in the country to offer free acupuncture to emergency room patients. The traditional Chinese treatment technique stimulates natural endorphins in the body, promoting better circulation and natural healing.
Acupuncture can help patients with anything from a minor migraine to severe trauma. In many cases, St. Francis can use it to replace traditional opioid treatment and is one way that the hospital is working to decrease incidences of prescribed opioids.
